Thank you for your interest in joining Keokuk Volunteer Emergency Corps (KVEC). We welcome individuals who share our commitment to community safety and emergency response. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to become a member of our dedicated team:
Step 1: Contact an Active Member
To start the membership process, reach out to any active member of KVEC. You can connect with them through various means, including attending our community events, sending an email to info@emergencycorps.org, or reaching out via our social media channels.
Step 2: Request and Complete an Application
Upon contacting an active member, request a membership application. Fill out the application form completely, providing accurate and detailed information. Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria, including possessing a valid driver’s license and having no felonies.
Step 3: Return Completed Application to KVEC Member
Once you’ve filled out the application, return it to the KVEC member who provided it to you. They will guide you on the next steps in the membership process.
Step 4: Background Check
As part of the membership evaluation process, a background check will be conducted. This step helps ensure the safety and integrity of our team. Please be aware that certain convictions may affect eligibility.
Step 5: Membership Vote at Monthly Meeting
Your completed application will be presented to the members at our monthly meeting. All active members will have the opportunity to vote “yes” or “no” on your membership. This collaborative decision-making process reflects our commitment to maintaining a cohesive and responsible team.
Step 6: Approval and Orientation
If your membership is approved, you will receive a call notifying you of the positive outcome. During this call, you will be informed about your orientation date, where you’ll receive essential gear, pager, radio, bylaws binder with information about KVEC, our operations, and your role within the team.
